This is the perfect summer kick-off!

For immediate release: Contact: Nicole Kochensparger Main Street Port Clinton 419-734-5503 info@portclintonchamber.com Port Clinton, Ohio-As organizers of the Main Street Port Clinton Walleye Festival, we have been closely monitoring the ever evolving COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the high degree of uncertainty about what the coming months will hold; and after consulting city officials and local community groups; and in the best interest of the general public, our volunteers, vendors, and entertainment, we have made the difficult decision to pause the 40th Annual Walleye Festival held Memorial Day weekend. The Walleye Festival is the largest fundraiser Main Street Port Clinton holds and is the funding source for our downtown improvement grants, seasonal plantings, holiday activities and more. The impact that this five day festival has on our local economy is outstanding, which is what made this decision most difficult. While we are disheartened at the thought of a summer without this traditional event, we feel that moving forward with the given uncertainty would be a risk to our community, volunteers, vendors and guests. We also want to make sure we are able to provide the support our local business community needs at this time. The Walleye Festival will be back, we will celebrate 40 years and we will endeavor to make it better than ever, but for now we will focus on our business members to make sure they too return stronger than before. While the Walleye Fest may not take place, we are looking into hosting a community wide event when conditions allow, to help reboot our local business economy. We’ll provide more details as a program takes shape. Please reach out to the Main Street Port Clinton at info@portclintonchamber.com if you’re interested in getting involved. Main Street Port Clinton currently has the support of over 400 business members and is the host of the Walleye Festival. We strongly encourage our many fans, supporters and community to find ways to continue to support our wonderful organizations and businesses in the months ahead. We will be back for 2021, May 27-31.
